THE EXPERIENCE

Travel to the edge of Tasmania’s World Heritage-listed Southwest National Park past spectacular craggy mountain ranges, buttongrass plains and ancient forests.

Walk through the Giant Forest to the densely forested banks of the Styx River or at Mount Field and stop and marvel at the largest and oldest giant gum trees. Visit the famous Tall Trees Walk or the Tolkien Track with its renowned trees – Gandalf’s Staff and Fangorn.

Discover the history of our fascinating forests and their possible future as the expert botanist shares his

knowledge. He will bring all the equipment which may include a laser rangefinder, tape measure and spherical camera.

Spot giant tree species from around the world including redwoods, sequoia, cedar and more.

If conditions and time permit, we can visit the entrance to the spectacular subterranean river of Junee Cave. Junee Cave is part of a large cave system stretching through 295 caves which includes the deepest cave in Australia.
