Our Operations Staff
George van Deventer is the Director and owner of our small business. He is responsible for marketing, ensuring staff are supported, vehicles are well maintained and our busienss systems are impecable. George's background as an investment advisor for high net worth clients embedded a highly professional, client-first approach to our Tasmanian private tour business.
Jess Symonds is our Business Manager and crafts our Tasmanian private tour itinerary designs, quotes and implementation. Her attention to detail knows no boundaries nor does her creativity in problem solving for our guest itineraries. With a decade of tourism industry experience, Jess is very well connected in our local industry. This means our guests on our Tasmanian private tours enjoy unique, behind-the-gates experiences.

Our Fleet

Both the tour & its organisation are worth commenting on. I was caught up in COVID test delays & George could not have been more accommodating, including rearranging things the evening before the tour when the test finally came through. On the day, Gerard was a true guide, not just a driver. He brings lived experience, tactful explanations of history, personal recommendations & does everything to make sure that you don’t just get delivered to a place, but told how to get the most out of it. He was good company on the drive and made it an experience, not just a tour.
I am writing to thank your company and especially Jack for a fabulous trip. My friends and I went to the caves, thermal pools and air walk yesterday and we had a great day. Jack was very professional and knowledgable. He allowed us to stop and buy fruit and let my son play in the playground. My son left his hat on the bus and Jack returned it to our motel.
Fantastic trip! Jack was wonderful in finding stops for pictures and telling us about the history of the various towns we passed through. The cave was amazing and the air walk terrifying but fun. We all had a great day out.

Lovely day out in the Huon Valley, loved the Tahune experience, just drank in the clean air and the Hastings Caves were impressive and loved the quick dip in the thermal pool. Gerard was a great host.
Fabulous afternoon sailing around Hobart in a gorgeous wooden sailing boat. Loved every second. The crew were polite and bent over backwards to keep us well fed, warm and entertained. Looking forward to going again at twilight over summer!
Lockdown hit Adelaide just before I was due to leave for Tassie. I had booked a tour with Tours Around Tasmania, but unfortunately had to cancel. George and Gareth made cancelling so easy and arranged my refund so quickly. Hopefully I can do a tour with them in the future!
